Sennheiser Noise Cancelling Headphones

Anyone who spends a fair amount of time travelling will appreciate that not all headphones are up to the task of blocking out external noise. Having spent a particularly frustrating 12 hours on a plane recently, where my headphones spectacularly failed to perform, I decided enough was enough. I had heard about Sennheiser noise cancelling headphones from a friend, and a little surfing of the net, confirmed his praise. Sennheiser noise cancelling headphones were clearly the way forward.

Whilst Sennheiser noise cancelling headphones come in a cheap and cheerful range of plug-ins at $20, my Sony plug-ins at twice that price were not up to the job. A recent spell of cold weather convinced me to go for an ear muff style. Perfect sound and warm ears sounded good to me.

I opted for the Sennheiser noise cancelling headphones PXC 450 range. I searched for a few stores online which offered by far the best prices. They are big, maybe not in comparison to other similar styles on the market, but they are a far cry from plug-ins. I figured if these bad boys don’t work, then nothing will. I decided to put them to the test, so off to the subway I went. I was immediately placed in my own private world, oblivious to my surroundings, and they were nothing short of perfect.

Sennheiser noise cancelling headphones run on triple A’s, come with a soft protective case, a full instruction manual (which was duly ignored), and quite conveniently, an airline plug and a 6.3 plug adaptor. Sennheiser noise cancelling headphones have Noisegard 2.0 technology which the box claimed reduces 90% of external noise, and I have to say, it does exactly that. At $240 a pop, they are not the cheapest models out there, but they were a good $60 cheaper than the Bose Quiet Comfort 3’s I was considering at $299 a set.

They are a little larger than I would have liked, but I am used to plug-ins. I prefer controls on the cable rather than the headphones, but it doesn’t take that much getting used to. They also have a button to switch off the music quickly, if you need to tune into the outside world for a while - a major plus - and the 1.4 M cable was plenty long enough. All in all I couldn’t find fault in my Sennheiser noise cancelling headphones and can recommend them to one and all.
